please do not attempt to place an order for a family history as you
will only be disappointed.
Why
so few names?
We are aware that other heraldic sources offer histories for any
name you can imagine. In many cases, however, these
"histories" are generated from generic templates and only
contain a line or two of real information about the surname in
question and often this is of dubious accuracy. We offer family
history information only for those names for which we know we have
reliable, accurate and independent sources.
The
information will come to you via email only, in the form of plain text
and will include

family history information itself [this normally includes - the
origin(s) of the name, the Irish form (if any), spelling variants,
the areas in which the name is most often found, a general history of
the name and names of well people who bore the name. The information
does NOT include any genealogical or pedigree data].
The
sources from which the information was extracted.
A
short article on the origins of surnames in Ireland, which is a
useful aid in putting the family history information in context.
The
amount of information available varies from name to name. In some
cases it comprises only a couple of paragraphs while in others there
are several pages. However, we have to establish a standard price.
Obviously some people will get better value than others on a cost per
